How to add cookie banner to Wix website: the App Market route, the pasted-code route and the checks after

Quick answerAdd a consent app from the Wix App Market, or paste the tool's code into the site, then pick a plan and test that Reject holds cookies back. CookieYes's Wix route offers a Free plan for one website.

How to add cookie banner to Wix website: two routes

To add a cookie banner to a Wix website, either add a consent app from the Wix App Market or paste the tool's code into Wix's custom code settings. CookieYes documents both and calls the App Market route the recommended one. Wix also offers its own banner, a Usercentrics product, under Privacy & Cookies in the site dashboard; Wix says its basic version is free.

Route 1: add the app from the Wix App Market

  1. Open the site editor for the Wix site that needs the banner.
  2. Go to Apps, then App Market, and click Add to Site on the CookieYes app.
  3. Click Agree & Add, then choose the banner language, layout and colors.
  4. Pick a plan: Continue with free for the Free plan, or Unlock premium features, choose a plan and billing cycle, and enter card and invoice details at checkout.
  5. Open CookieYes under Apps, click Publish Changes, then check the banner on desktop, tablet and mobile.

The Free plan allows one website per account, with 5,000 pageviews a month and 100 pages per scan, the number of pages the cookie scanner crawls in one scan.

Route 2: paste the banner code

Use this route when you prefer not to add an app. Wix says custom code needs a published site with a connected domain.

  1. In CookieYes, finish the banner setup, open Site Settings and click Get Installation Code.
  2. In the Wix dashboard, open Settings, then Custom Code, and click + Add Custom Code.
  3. Paste the CookieYes code in the box, with the wix.js helper script from CookieYes's article above it; the helper translates CookieYes consent events into the format Wix expects.
  4. Choose All pages and Head, then click Apply.
  5. Back in CookieYes, click Verify.

Warning: Wix says that assigning a different domain to the site deletes its code snippets. Wix also says Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Facebook and TikTok pixels do not work through custom code, and that custom code counts as essential by default, so it loads before consent.

Choose the rules and the plan

CookieYes's setup screen offers three consent templates: GDPR, US State Laws, or both together. The two-law template and the Popup layout need Pro or Ultimate. The GDPR and US State Laws templates are on every plan, the Free plan included. The Free plan fits one website within 5,000 pageviews a month; a busier site needs a paid plan. The Wix App Market listing showed paid plans in a currency other than US dollars, so this page gives no Wix price.

Test the banner after it goes live

Test on the published site, not in the editor. Clear site data including third-party cookies, hard refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R, and check that only strictly necessary cookies are present until you accept. Then click Reject All and check again. CookieYes describes Reject All as a banner content setting you switch on, so confirm the button shows.

CookieYes adds to a Wix site from the Wix App Market, where its help article offers the Free plan for one website or a premium plan at checkout, or by pasting the CookieYes code by hand.

Paid plans start with a 14-day trial, and the pricing FAQ says the card is charged automatically when it ends unless you cancel. Start with CookieYes free plan, read how to add a cookie banner to your website for WordPress and Shopify, or compare best free cookie consent banner options.
