CookieYes plugin: what you get on activation
The CookieYes plugin is the WordPress.org plugin that puts a consent banner on a WordPress site, and it works without a CookieYes account. CookieYes says a banner with Accept and Reject options appears on activation, with a floating button for revisiting choices. WordPress.org lists 1+ million active installations. As read on October 31, 2026, the Free plan is $0 for one domain and Basic is $10 a month per domain, billed monthly.

Installing the CookieYes plugin on WordPress
- In the WordPress admin, open Plugins, then Add New, search for the CookieYes plugin and click Install Now, then Activate.
- CookieYes says a basic banner shows at once, with no configuration.
- For paid features, open CookieYes, then Dashboard, click Connect to Web App and select Free, Basic, Pro or Ultimate.
The code route is the alternative: paste the CookieYes code in the head, before any other script. A header and footer plugin avoids editing theme files; with the theme editor you may need to add the code again after a theme change. Click Verify afterward, then run a scan.
Consent Mode and tag manager on WordPress
Google Consent Mode v2 is on every CookieYes plan. CookieYes says its Google Tag Manager method is incompatible with the WordPress plugin; the plugin has its own Enable Google Consent Mode toggle instead. Global Privacy Control (GPC), a browser signal that tells a site not to sell or share a visitor's data, and IAB TCF v2.4, the advertising industry's consent framework, are listed from Pro. See Google Consent Mode v2 cookie banner for the setup.
When Complianz fits better than the CookieYes plugin
Complianz fits a WordPress-only site that wants a yearly license with no pageview limit: Personal is $59 a year for 1 website. Its plugin runs on WordPress only. Best cookie consent plugin for WordPress and CookieYes vs Complianz compare the two. For prices by plan, see CookieYes pricing.
Basic, Pro and Ultimate begin with a 14-day trial on CookieYes's pricing page; payment details are collected at sign-up and the card is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel.
This guide is informational and not legal advice: the plugin's own listing warns that installing it alone is not enough for the GDPR or the CCPA, CookieYes is a technology platform that assists with compliance, each site owner is responsible for compliance, and a qualified lawyer can say what your site needs.
