What is CookieYes? A banner and consent records, run from a dashboard
CookieYes is a cookie consent platform from CookieYes Limited. Its home page calls it a Google-certified consent management platform, which means a tool that shows visitors a banner, records their choices and passes those choices on to other scripts on the page. You build and manage the banner in the vendor's dashboard instead of in your own site code.
This guide reads the vendor's home page, pricing page, agency page, help articles and terms, and its WordPress.org listing, as of October 30, 2026.
How CookieYes works in four steps
- Set up: create an account, pick the regions you serve and choose a template. The vendor's pages list a GDPR template that asks for opt-in consent and a US state laws template that offers opt-out.
- Customize: choose a banner, box or centered layout, its position and its colors, within the limits of your plan.
- Install: copy the installation code into your site header, or use the WordPress plugin, the Shopify app or the Wix app, then click Verify in the dashboard.
- Scan and record: a scan lists the cookies on your site and sorts them into categories, auto-blocking holds back non-essential cookies until a visitor agrees, and the consent log keeps each visitor's choice.
The kinds of consent it supports
- Opt-in, the GDPR style: non-essential cookies stay off until a visitor agrees. The pricing table lists this template on every plan.
- Opt-out, the US state laws style: visitors can decline or limit the sale or sharing of their data. The WordPress listing mentions a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link for California residents.
- Region logic: showing one banner to EU visitors and another to US visitors is called geo-targeting, and the pricing table lists it from Pro. The Shopify help article describes a worldwide setting, so check which plan your platform needs.
- Signals: the table lists Global Privacy Control and the IAB TCF v2.4 framework from Pro, and Google Consent Mode v2 on all plans.
Where CookieYes runs
Because the install is a script, CookieYes runs on most sites. The vendor's menus list a WordPress plugin, a Shopify app, a Wix app and a HubSpot app, plus guides for Squarespace and Kajabi, and its agency page says it works with more than 190 content management systems. The WordPress.org listing says the plugin has over 1 million active installations, which is the listing's own figure. On WordPress, the help center offers two routes for the code: paste it into the theme header, or use a header and footer plugin.
Where the boundary sits: what CookieYes leaves to you
- Legal judgment: the vendor's terms say its information is general and not legal advice. Which law covers your site and your visitors is a question for a lawyer.
- Your own scripts: a banner controls what it can see, so scripts you add later need to be scanned and categorized again.
- Policy text: the plans include privacy policy and cookie policy generators that build pages from your answers. Have a lawyer review any policy text you publish.
- Other tools: Google tags need consent mode settings, covered in how to add a cookie banner to a website.
