✓ Small WordPress or Shopify sites whose monthly pageviews sit near the free allowance
✓ Freelancers and agencies with several client sites who want one dashboard and agency discount tiers
✓ Owners who want an opt-in template and an opt-out template with auto-blocking and a consent log
✓ Sites that want to test a free plan before paying per domain
— Busy sites with few pages, where a subpage meter may fit better
— WordPress-only fleets that prefer one yearly license across many sites
— Owners who need a lawyer's answer on which law applies to them
— Sites that need an enterprise platform with a sales-led contract
CookieYes vs Cookiebot: the main difference is the meter
Both tools show a consent banner, scan your site for cookies and pass choices to Google. The main difference is what they count. CookieYes counts pageviews: each time a page carrying its code loads. Cookiebot counts subpages, the unique URLs on a domain, and its pricing page says it does not charge by page views or usage.
Both vendors' pages were read on October 30, 2026. Amounts are left to those pages, which show them in the currency you choose.
Side by side: what each vendor's pages state
- Meter: CookieYes counts monthly pageviews. Cookiebot counts subpages per domain.
- Free plan: CookieYes lists 5,000 pageviews for one domain, with up to 100 pages per scan. Cookiebot lists a free plan for one domain with up to 50 subpages and unlimited users.
- Plan ladder: CookieYes runs Free, Basic, Pro and Ultimate. Cookiebot runs Free, then paid tiers named Lite, Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large by subpage count.
- Trial: CookieYes gives 14 days on paid plans. Cookiebot gives 14 days of premium features with no credit card, and says the banner stops showing after the trial unless you upgrade or, for a site under 50 subpages that uses no premium features, choose its free plan.
- Features: CookieYes lists geo-targeting, Global Privacy Control and a combined GDPR and US state laws template from Pro. Cookiebot lists banner design, multiple-domain handling, reporting, 47 or more languages and regional banner rules on its paid tiers.
A worked example of the two meters
These are illustrations, not forecasts. Site A has 30 pages and 400,000 pageviews a month. In CookieYes's table that is above the Pro allowance of 300,000 pageviews, so it points to Ultimate or to extra pageview blocks. Cookiebot judges the same site on 30 subpages, which fits its free or Lite tier for one domain.
Site B has 2,000 pages and 20,000 pageviews a month. The Basic allowance covers the traffic, but a Basic scan covers up to 600 pages and a Pro scan up to 4,000, so a full scan of every page points to Pro. Cookiebot would place the site in its Medium tier, which runs from 350 to 3,499 subpages. Run the same sums with your own analytics before you choose.
Several domains: how each handles a fleet
- CookieYes: each domain needs its own paid plan, and the pricing FAQ points agencies to the Agency Partner Program, with one dashboard and discount tiers that start at five subscribed sites.
- Cookiebot: each domain is evaluated and billed separately by its subpage count, and sub-domains count as separate domains. Its FAQ says accounts with four or more domains are offered the Small tier for domains under 350 subpages, and it lists domain groups and cross-domain consent sharing.
- Both vendors publish these rules on their own pages, so run the sum for your exact number of sites before you commit. The pricing guide explains the CookieYes side.
What each vendor says about the other
CookieYes's Cookiebot page, which says it reflects information from March 2026, argues that its free plan includes cookie auto-blocking and consent trends that Cookiebot's free plan lacks. Cookiebot's CookieYes page argues that its scanning is deeper, that every feature sits on every paid tier and that some CookieYes features cost extra. The CookieYes pricing table does gate several features by tier, and Cookiebot's pricing page does list its paid features together. Both pages are sales positions written by the vendor, so compare the features you need on the two pricing pages.
Which to choose
- Choose CookieYes if your site is quiet but has many pages, you want a free plan with auto-blocking and a consent log, or you manage client sites through its Agency Partner Program.
- Choose Cookiebot if traffic is high but the site has few pages, because its meter ignores traffic, or if you want cross-domain consent sharing across a group of your own domains.
- Consider Complianz or iubenda if you prefer a yearly WordPress license or a bundled policy generator. See the best cookie consent banner guide.
- Whichever you pick, read the CookieYes review for the limits, and ask a lawyer which rules apply to your visitors.
